Tee-ball will practice and play all their games on the turf field inside Fortress Obetz. Fortress Obetz is the facility directly behind the Obetz Athletic Club. Practices and games for Tee-ball will start at 6:00 pm.
The other baseball and softball divisions will use the ball diamonds directly next to the Obetz Athletic Club.
PRACTICES | GAMES
Practices will start at the beginning of April. Games will start at the beginning of May. Practice schedules will be sent out in the beginning of April. Game schedules will be created and sent out sometime in April! The season will conclude at the end of June. The final week (playoffs) will be the week of June 16th for U8, U10, and U12. Tee-ball will not have playoffs. It’s possible the final week could get pushed back if we have makeup games to complete before playoffs start.
Obetz plays in a joint recreation league with Groveport Youth Athletic Association. GYAA plays at the ball diamonds at the Groveport Recreation Center.
EQUIPMENT | UNIFORMS
Obetz supplies each participant’s game uniform. This includes a hat, jersey, and pants. Players will keep these items at the conclusion of the season. Each participant is responsible for their own glove, cleats, and any other item you might want to supply your child with. Tee-ball players can wear cleats or regular athletic shoes since they are on turf!
Each coach will be assigned an equipment bag for their team. These bags will include batting helmets, balls, first aid kits, catcher’s gear, first aid kits, scorebooks, and a few other items for the team. Players can use their own equipment as well.
REGISTRATION | COACHES | TEAMS
Registration will end at the end of March. Once registration ends, we’ll place everyone on a team. If you are interested in volunteering to coach (head coach or assistant), please reach out to Jacob Gifford at jgifford@obetz.gov or 614-409-4421. Our goal is to start practice at the very beginning of April. To ensure we can start as soon as possible, we need all coaches to complete their background checks!
Once you’re on a team and coaches have completed background checks, you'll receive practice information (dates, times, field locations, etc.) to everyone. You’ll also hear from your coach around that time as well.
REFUND POLICY
A full refund will be issued if:
- The program is canceled by the Parks and Rec department.
- A participant withdraws before registration closes.
- A participant cannot participate due to a documented medical issue that is submitted before the first scheduled activity.
